CITI OPEN® TENNIS TOURNAMENT MEN’S DOUBLES FIELD SOARS WITH 13 OF THE TOP 25 PLAYERS IN THE WORLD
Field led by Bob and Mike Bryan; Main draw play begins July 18
WASHINGTON (July 11, 2016) — The Citi Open Tennis Tournament men’s doubles field boasts 13 of the top 25 players on the Emirates ATP Doubles Rankings . Main draw play begins Monday, July 18, at the Rock Creek Park Tennis Center.
Defending champions Bob and Mike Bryan lead the field, as they return for what could be their fifth title in Washington. The field also includes Wimbledon doubles semifinalists, Treat Huey and Max Mirnyi, Raven Klaasen and Rajeev Ram, and Edouard Roger-Vasselin. French Open semifinalists Lukasz Kubot and Alexander Peya also joins the field.
“Since we elevated the tournament to an ATP World Tour 500 level event in 2009, our doubles fields have been incredibly strong and deep from top to bottom,” said Jeff Newman, tournament director. “This year is perhaps the best yet and Washington doubles fans are in for a real treat.”
The Citi Open Tennis Tournament has been Washington, D.C.’s premier tennis event since 1969 and benefits the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation (WTEF), the tournament’s nonprofit owner and beneficiary. The organization provides underserved children in the D.C.-area with a safe environment to learn critical life skills both on and off the courts through academic and athletic enrichment.
Single session/daily tickets are now available at www.citiopentennis.com. Each ticket provides fans access to the action on all six match courts for up to as many as 26 matches per session in the early rounds providing tremendous value for the ticket price. A ticket provides fans with one reserved seat on Stadium Court, as well as general admission on all outer courts on a first-come, first-served basis, as well as various onsite activities, concessions, social areas, and more. Tickets to gain admission to the tournament’s signature special events will be announced soon.
Courtside box seats, a variety of all-session and multi-session ticket packages, and group packages are also available online at www.citiopentennis.com. The tournament box office will be open for walk-up ticket sales (subject to availability) starting on Saturday, July 16 at 8AM.
The Citi Open Tennis Tournament is one of only 13 elite ATP World Tour 500-level events worldwide and the only one held in the United States. The tournament also features a WTA International Tournament, which provides fans the opportunity to watch simultaneous competitions of both world-class men’s and women’s tennis throughout the nine-day event. It is one of only four U.S. tournaments that include both men’s and women’s fields. All main draw matches of the tournament, on all three courts, will be broadcast on Tennis Channel.
