Young athletes from the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation (WTEF) were welcomed to MedStar Health at Lafayette Centre on Wednesday morning for an interactive learning experience about athletic movement, lead by Dan Black.
The kids were able to see the kinetic force produced when playing tennis by using motion capture pin on and a digital program that displayed what was happening on the court.
The tour also included a test at running on a zero-gravity treadmill, which is equivalent to running on the moon.
The WTEF kids were able to pick the brain of Dr. Weimi Douoguih, team doctor for the Washington Capitals and Washington Wizards.
The learning will continue for the young athletes of the WTEF as they will have another chance to explore career paths during the Citi Professional Development Day happening on site during the Citi Open on August 1.
