Bleachr, a Minneapolis-based mobile platform developer with patented in-venue technology has partnered with Lagardère Sports to develop a custom mobile application to amplify the live experience at the Citi Open® Tennis Tournament. The event has been Washington, D.C.’s preeminent professional tennis tournament for 49 years, is a joint WTA and ATP event, and one of only 13 prestigious ATP World Tour 500 tournaments in the world.
“We’re always looking for innovative ways to improve the fan experience at our sports properties and events,” said Jay Danzi, U.S. COO of Lagardère Sports. “Bleachr’s unique platform will provide fans with exclusive features to enrich the onsite experience, and we look forward to working with their team to create strong strategic partnerships across the sports landscape.”
“We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Lagardère Sports to introduce our mobile capabilities to tennis fans in Washington, D.C.,” said Rich Kinzler, Managing Director at Bleachr. “Lagardère Sports is a leader in the global business of sports, making them the ideal partner to help accelerate our business and transform the live in-venue event experience for fans everywhere.”
Bleachr’s patented geo-fenced social and transactional platform amplifies the live experience for fans, while delivering them convenience and fueling fan loyalty onsite. Its unique features include: connecting fans in-venue through notifications, messaging, and a variety of streams to keep fans engaged through their mobile devices.
“For nearly 50 years the Citi Open has brought the best of tennis to fans in Washington and to a global audience,” said Citi Open Tournament Director Keely O’Brien. “Together with Bleachr we will be able to give fans at this year’s tournament a dynamic way to connect with the event and help take the Citi Open experience to exciting new heights.”
The Citi Open application will be the first collaboration for Bleachr and Lagardère Sports. The app is available now through the end of the tournament, which runs from July 29 through August 6th at Rock Creek Park Tennis Center in Washington, D.C.
