LOCAL DOUBLES PAIRS RECEIVE WILD CARDS TO CITI OPEN® QUALIFYING ROUNDS
Legacy of cultivating local talent continues at 50th edition of Tournament; Singles Wild Card Challenge to be held in June
WASHINGTON (April 29, 2018) — Two local teams emerged out of 15 men’s pairings and eight women’s pairings to win the Citi Open® Doubles Wild Card Challenge, securing their wild cards to the Tournament’s qualifying rounds.
No. 4 seeds Jordan Chrysostom of Bowie, Md., and Trey Stinchcomb of Olney, Md., won the men’s competition. They defeated No. 3 seeds Mateo Cevallos of Frederick, Md. and David Martin of Glenn Dale, Md., 6-2, 6-1.
In the women’s competition, No. 2 seeds Nicole Hammond of Centreville, Va., and Kristyna Nepivodova of McLean, Va., won in three hard-fought sets against No. 1 seeds Malkia Ngounoue of Washington, DC, and Natasha Subhash of Fairfax, Va., 3-6, 7-5, 10-8.
A Singles Wild Card Challenge will be held June 15-18, 2018 at the Rock Creek Park Tennis Center, home of the Citi Open.
