Much will be at stake Sunday as six men and four women will punch their tickets into the main draw at the Citi Open.
Coco Gauff is again among the headliners as the 15-year-old takes on Japan’s Hiroko Kuwata at approximately 2:00 p.m. on Stadium Court. Gauff is looking to advance to her third career main draw after doing so in Miami and at Wimbledon.
The Gauff-Kuwata match will follow the 12 p.m. ATP qualifier between Viktor Troicki and University of Virginia alum Thai-Son Kwiatkowski. Kwiatkowski, a 2017 NCAA champion, is seeking his first main draw appearance on the ATP World Tour in 2019.
Day Two of qualifying begins at 10:00 a.m. with Tour veterans Donald Young and Peter Gojowczyk meeting on John Harris Court. Young is seeking a ninth career main draw appearance in Washington where he’s twice advanced to the semifinals (2011, 2014). Young qualified for the main draw last year before beating Stan Wawrinka in the first round.
The other two matches on John Harris Court include American Tim Smyczek taking on Norbert Gombos of Serbia, and Canadian Brayden Schnur facing Gleb Sakharov of France.
The last remaining spot in the men’s doubles draw will also be determined as Benoit Paire and Rohan Bopanna take on Matthew Ebden and Nicholas Monroe.
